If the Turner family were a reality TV show, what show would they be on?
I'm not sure about reality shows, but I think they would do well on an episode of Family Feud, and by "well" I mean they'd be entertaining, because they wouldn't agree on anything.
Do you use music as a source of inspiration while writing? If so, who are some of the artists on your writing playlist?
I write a lot in coffee shops, so I end up listening to whatever commercially-appropriate jazz they're playing.
Name a movie title that describes your first kiss.
Titanic, because it was on a cruise ship.
East coast or West coast?
West coast for growing old, East coast for instant gratification.
A color that explains your aura and why?
Red. It's warm and inviting but also dangerous.
Are you a superstitious person? Do you have any quirks/weird rituals you do?
I eat my cereal with ice cubes in the milk. Not exactly a ritual, but something I'm very passionate about.
Name one piece of advice from your parents that you follow.
To value myself first.
If you were a rapper, what would your MC name be?
I still hold out hope that I will be a rapper one day, although I'm 75 in rapper years. I can't share the name because it would mean the dream is dead.
What is your greatest strength as a writer? Your greatest weakness?
My greatest strength is my ability to use subtle humor. My greatest weakness is being too easy on my characters. I don't like to see them suffer.
One word to describe how you felt seeing your debut in book stores?
Badass.
