Even or odd?
Right now I'd say even because I'm striving for some order in my life.
Describe your favorite color without using its name.
The inside of a key hole. A portal to another dimension. The grease stains on my hands after fixing a wheel.
Three things you’d like to burn, and why?
Rosemary, because it's fragrant. Cinnamon, because it sparkles. A cedar wreath, for Winter Solstice, my favorite holiday.
Tell us how you unfurl.
I unfurl when I am added to water, soaking in the tub. I unfurl when I kick my legs off and sprawl on the floor. I unfurl with loud music on, the doors open, working in my studio.
Your best nightmare?
I once had a dream that started out with me floating down a river in a canoe. Suddenly I realized the river was a waterfall and I was about to go over the edge and there was nothing I could do about it! I panicked, but to no avail. In the dream I actually went over the edge of the waterfall and started falling. I was terrified. Until I just kept falling and falling and realized at some point that it was actually fun to free fall. Eventually I landed at the bottom with a tiny splash, still in my canoe. I coasted along the river peacefully until the river became the aisle of a theatre and I, still in the canoe, slid down the aisle to the front row. On the stage friends of mine were performing in a cabaret and I was very happy. That was the end of the dream.
What lurks in your shadow?
My moody behavior. The past. My secrets. Violent thoughts. Lust. Quiet. Memories. Dirt. Nerve endings. Follicles.
Name an icon.
James Baldwin, my favorite writer. An icon of prose, civil rights and love in all its forms.
What is sacred (if anything)?
Integrity, nature, our authentic selves.
What is profane (if anything)?
Half the things I say ;) my sense of humor.
In a word or two, capture your magic.
Youthful spirit.
