Winter Tangerine Workshops

Finger & Lash, Sweet Lightning

Winter Tangerine is proud to present Finger & Lash, Sweet Lightning, a workshop for queer writers navigating the politics of body & desire. FLSL is a week-long flash online workshop from February 24th to March 3rd, that includes full writing lessons, prompts, guided writing generation activities & guest seminars by Casey Rocheteau & Kamden Hilliard. When the world makes every need feel scarce, sitting with our wants can feel indulgent or unnecessary.

Our desires, however, are verifiable ways to navigate the self we make in this world & the world we want to home ourselves in. For queer folks, our desire for a spectrum of intimacy has made both our bodies & desires vulnerable to systemic violence & interpersonal danger. Still we want & loudly & quietly & still & enraged.

This workshop will navigate ways to map out the narratives of queer desire, build lexicons to code our bodies in possible. Finger & Lash, Sweet Lightning is open for all queer writers, with an unapologetic intention for Black, Indigenous Writers (of Color) & Trans/GNC writers. Tuition is $100. Financial aid is available to those with need. There is no age limit or requirement, and no experience is necessary.

The title of this workshop comes from the poem crusty midwest demi femme, mapped by Kemi Alabi, published in Winter Tangerine’s workshop anthology, Orchid Hollow Shout.
