Folade (fo-lah-day) is her birth name, and is Yoruba for "honor arrives." Her work is centered in spirituality, nature, and energy frequency. As a Reiki practitioner, and with further intent to create work that resonates on a healing level, she infuses Reiki into her work. Several years ago, her affinity to the circle grew toward research that included symbolism and sacred elements such as mandalas, labyrinths, sacred geometry, dendrochronology (the study of tree rings), ancient Sun symbolism and crop circles. This was the impetus that encouraged the circular based work. Although her visual art is self-taught, her Master of Fine Arts in Writing, from The School of the Art Institute Chicago, provided her with studio experience in fiber, book binding, paper making and paper arts. In addition to being a Reiki practitioner and an artist, she is a professional editor and private tutor.
