We are thrilled to present Hollows Shout the Mountain Down, a Winter Tangerine and Monstering Flash Workshop. During HSTMD, we will examine the spectrum of disability. We will interrogate disability, celebrate disability, dissect disability. What we will examine: the coexistence of monstrosity, humanity, and disability; the power of abnormality and subversion; the resistance inherent in the disabled body and mind; the emotional landscape of disability; the interaction of disability and the self. Poets Jillian Weise and Joanna Valente will join HSTMD for Guest Seminars to help us tread the landscape of our disability.
The program is for dedicated, passionate writers looking to take their work to the next level. Flash Workshops do not focus on directly teaching writing, but rather immersing participants in evocative poetry and prose, and in turn, sparking pieces of writing.
This is a disability-inclusive workshop—anyone who identifies as disabled is welcome to apply. The workshop will be held from January 15 through January 21. There is no application fee. Tuition is $60. Financial aid is available to those with need. There is no age limit or requirement, and no experience is necessary. Applications are open through December 25!
The title of this workshop comes from the poem “You’re not cracked,” by Grey Vild, published in Issue 1 of WT.
