BOOK REVIEWERS

We are currently seeking Book Reviewers who wish to analyze and discuss newly-released contemporary literature through lenses that challenge the Western literary canon. Book Reviewers will write monthly reviews of indie and major releases of poetry and prose, and will work closely with our reviews team to seek out future books to review. We look for an ability to critically analyze literary work with a distinct, electric creative voice, and a commitment to community. Book Reviewers should hold a high standard of excellence in their editorial practice, have an understanding of literary form and narrative, and be eager to welcome new ways of navigating and contributing to contemporary literary dialogue. We are pleased to offer modest honorariums to our Book Reviewers. The role is based entirely online.

ASSOCIATE INTERNSHIP DIRECTOR

We are currently seeking an associate internship director to help us manage and develop our digital internship program. The Winter Tangerine internship program offers digital internship opportunities for writers and readers across the world. The associate internship director will work closely with the internship director to fortify and further innovate the internship program; responsibilities will include outreach to schools and youth centers, reading and considering internship applications, and supporting interns in their work with Winter Tangerine. We are pleased to offer a modest honorarium for this role.

SUMMER 2018 SPOTLIGHT READERS

We are currently seeking readers and staff for our 2018 Summer Spotlight feature: DISPATCHES FROM THE STARS. DISPATCHES seeks to reimagine citizenship and sanctuary for folks at the intersection of migration and race and invites work that constructs alternate realities for aliens of color, particularly through the lens of Afrofuturism, magical realism, speculative poetry/prose, or other re-renderings of the imagination. Editors for this feature are Safia Elhillo (poetry), Janani Balasubramanian (prose), and Jess X Snow (visual art). We are looking for poetry, prose, and visual art readers, and syllabus-building writers, prioritizing those who are undocumented, non-citizen, and/or 1st generation immigrants of color.

GENERAL READERS

We are currently seeking readers to discuss and review Winter Tangerine submissions. We look for an ability to critically analyze literary work, a passion for contemporary literature, and a commitment to community. The time commitment is 2-3 hours a week. This is an unpaid six-month role with the opportunity to extend to a paid readership role at the end of the initial term. The role is based entirely online.
