April, 2016
Dear readers,
Sing That Like Dovesong was truly a stunning experience -- over 50 writers of color came together for a week of writing, reading, and growing. As with We Sweat Honeysuckle, our queer workshop, there was a sense of community immediately. The writers brought all of their joy and pride -- the workshop was simply a celebration.
Spring is a lovely time. The bleakness of Winter has been literally outshined by velvet flowers and warm breezes and cool lemonade. We pack away our winter coats, our scarves and our thick boots. We become lighter. Curating this collection was the perfect way to celebrate this new bright season -- these eight writers of color brought me light.
I send all my love and gratitude to everyone who advised, participated, and wrote during STLD. A very special thank you to Fatimah Asghar and Angel Nafis for treating us to such riveting and insightful Guest Seminars.
Sing That Like Dovesong was glorious -- and this anthology is too. Enjoy.
Best,

Note: We regret the delay in publishing this anthology -- we've kept the initial opening note that Yasmin wrote in April to preserve the integrity and space of this collection of work.
