This summer, we’re holding two sessions of our intensive three-week writing program designed to catalyze self-revolutions in your writing.
The Winter Tangerine Summer Online Workshop has a unique and innovative format and syllabus. Participants free write daily and battle in word wars to practice abandoning writing inhibitions
Each week will focus on a different theme–Character Study, Aesthetic, and Absurdity. During Character Study, we will explore the inner depths of your characters. In Aesthetic, we will consider how tone, specific sets of imagery, and an overarching mood contribute to the atmosphere of your work. During Absurdity week, we’ll shatter the logic in your writing and create new meaning from the broken shards. Throughout the three weeks we encourage playfulness over perfection -- our assignments and prompts encourage experimentation with form and style.
In addition to supportive advisors who offer positive and helpful feedback on assignments, we're continuing our Guest Seminars featuring hour-long live web classes with our favorite writers. Past Guest Seminars have included Shinji Moon, Angel Nafis, Richard Siken and Danez Smith. This summer, our Guest Seminars will include Hanif Abdurraqib, Franny Choi, Safia Elhillo, Bhanu Kapil, Christopher Soto, and Rachel McKibbens.
The program is for dedicated, passionate writers looking to take their work to the next level. Winter Tangerine’s Online Writer’s Workshop will not focus on classes and “teaching” writing, but rather immersing the participants in evocative poetry and prose, critique and discussion.
Tuition is $180 and we do offer significant need-based financial aid. The deadline to apply to the workshop is June 15th!
