Thiahera LeSian Nurse is a recent graduate of the First Wave Urban Arts and Design Community at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She uses her art to heal and be healed. She is a first-generation American born and raised in Queens, NY. Both of these elements of her identity fuel the core of her work as an artist, activist, daughter, friend, and scholar. She has performed on stages such as the Apollo Theater, The New Amsterdam Theater and The Nuyorican Poets Café. Her work is a compilation of memory, observation, celebration, blood, sweat, and tears. With her voice, she hopes to shed a light on the experiences of the voiceless in a way that gives reverence to all of the people living on the page.
