I hope that "Fragments of Persephone" liberates the female poetry subject from centuries of neat romaniticization.

Xandria Phillips is a Black, queer poet who grew up in rural Ohio. She received her B.A. from Oberlin College in 2014 where she studied Creative Writing and Africana studies. In her writing Xandria often grapples with the body, displacement, femme desire and queer reproduction. She is currently an MFA candidate at Virginia Tech.
