Winter Tangerine: Workshops

Orchids Without Attached Thighs

We are thrilled to present Orchids Without Attached Thighs, our next week-long Flash Workshop. During OWAT, we will study the maps of our femininity. We will indulge and claim our feminine, interrogate and dissect our feminine, navigate the churning waters of our feminine. What we will examine: the spectrum of girlhood, the ways femininity and masculinity intersect, the ways femininity and violence coexist within the self, the ways femininity interacts with the world, the ways femininity interacts with the self.

Poets Chrysanthemum Tran and Jeanann Verlee will join OWAT for Guest Seminars to help us bring our femininity to light. First debuted in our 2015 Summer Workshop, Guest Seminars are hour-long classes through Google Hangouts with writers whose work we adore.

The program is for dedicated, passionate writers looking to take their work to the next level. Winter Tangerine Flash Workshops do not focus on directly teaching writing, but rather immersing participants in evocative poetry and prose, and in turn, sparking pieces of writing.

This is a gender-inclusive workshop  -- anyone who feels deeply connected with femininity is welcome to apply. The workshop will be held from November 20th through November 26th. Tuition is $60. Financial aid is available to those with need. There is no age limit or requirement, and no experience is necessary. Applications are open through November 1st!

The title of this workshop comes from the poem 'Donna', by Frances Saux, published in Volume 3 of WT.
